- Leads sourcing teams in the application of sourcing strategies. Collaborates with peers and others to produce direct and/or indirect sourcing and purchasing strategies. Defines project scopes, mitigates risk, and identifies savings opportunities. Implements policies and tracks supplier and team performance to ensure that Cummins's business goals are realized concerning market-driven supply chains. Deftly applies key procedures toward assuring supply.
- Manages sourcing and purchasing strategies aimed at reducing cost, minimizing risk, fostering innovation, and optimizing business processes.
- Sets goals for and manages category strategy, commodity, and/or project teams.
- Promotes alignment of purchasing strategy with business unit and supply chain goals.
- Identifies, plans, and implements continuous improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
- Engages with Pre-M0 product/technology development functions to provide the necessary support.
- Identifies and manages a relevant supply base of competitive and innovative companies.
- Builds strong supplier relationships; serves as primary contact for issue resolution with suppliers.
- Leads and manages purchasing projects and leads certain commodity teams at the business unit or corporate level.
- Negotiates supplier contracts independently or as a member of a negotiating team; manages relationships with suppliers.
- Manages the supplier selection process and conducts complex supplier negotiations and contracts.
- Can lead the analysis of key trends/issues in supply and total cost of ownership for assigned products.
- Maintains the team’s focus on the impact of sourcing decisions across the entire supply chain.
- Advises and consults with internal business partners on sourcing and purchasing processes and procedures.
- Develops, leads, and motivates staff where applicable; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.
- Fully understands the importance of compliance and actively seeks to mitigate risk for Cummins.

- Sourcing - Utilizes the purchasing functional system to support the Request For Quote process establish a Total Cost of Ownership comparison of suppliers based on the category strategy and define the supplier that is most likely to meet Cummins and customer's needs.
- College, university, or equivalent degree in the field appropriate for the function required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- A significant level of relevant work experience is required.
- Manage the CSSNA Direct Purchasing Team.
- Led the CSSNA Direct Materials purchasing/procurement/sourcing function.
- Deliver the KPIs for the function.
- Manage key supplier and vendor relationships.
- Serve primary internal customers of CSSNA upfit / MRCs and CSSNA sales & service locations.
- Identify and resolve potential supplier disruptions.
- Support sourcing needs for new product launches.
- Lead CSSNA supplier diversity increase efforts.
- Lead the subworkstream for direct procurement of Arete projects.
- Support on new supplier relationships established by DBU/CSSNA.
- Resolve issues related to warranty recovery and quality recovery from suppliers.
- Base Salary range commensurate with experience, range: $114,400 - $171,600. Please note that the salary range provided is a good-faith estimate of the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
