      SUMMARY OF POSITION

      CMRU is looking for an intern to join our CT Software team and work alongside our scientists and engineers to design and implement high-quality embedded software for Canon Medical CT scanners. Students will be mentored to gain hands-on experience participating in the designing of solutions that meet customer needs, while documenting the design, writing clear and concise code, commenting on code, as appropriate, and creating documentation that outlines code functionality. This position offers a great opportunity to see how your contributions can improve patient care.

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Contribute new ideas to Software/Product development.
      • Formulate a software design using industry best practices and document it appropriately.
      • Implement the software design by following standards and best practices and test your code thoroughly.
      • Analyze software requirements documentation and consult with the author as needed.
      • Work with your mentor to help solve problems for both customers and members of the Engineering team.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Education

      • The ideal candidate is a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field.

      Experience & Key Competencies

      • Foundational understanding of C/C++ coding skills.
      • Focused on clean code and solid designs.
      • Basic understanding of desktop or embedded software development.
      • Understanding of computer architecture principles.
      • Knowledge of embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (RTOS).
      • Experience in mathematics and scientific algorithm implementation and optimization.
      • Comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Eager to learn, listen and work together.
      • Not afraid to try and make mistakes.

      Time and Location Commitment

      • The position is temporary, full-time and require a commitment of 12 weeks, 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, during regular business hours. The term can be adjusted somewhat to accommodate the academic calendar on an as needed basis.
      • The position is based in CMRU’s main office in Vernon Hills (Chicago), Illinois.
      • A hybrid work schedule will allow the ideal candidates the flexibility to work from home on some days and from the office on other days based on the needs of the project and business requirements.

      Requirements

      • Students must be a minimum of a Junior or Senior working towards a B.S. or in a graduate program working toward a M.S. or Ph.D.
      • Students must have taken several related courses in the field in which they will work.
      • Students must be at least 18 years of age.
      • Students must be eligible to work in the U.S.
      • Students are responsible for securing their housing.
