      Description

      Summary : Responsible for operation of Cat Scan equipment to produce CT images of the body for diagnostic purposes as directed by the ordering physician and radiologist’s protocols.

      Job Responsibilities:

      1. Perform any emergency room CT, X-ray exam, Fluoroscopy, or surgical exam.
      2. Perform any inpatient CT, X-ray exam, Fluoroscopy, or surgical exam.
      3. Perform any outpatient CT, X-ray exam, Fluoroscopy, or surgical exam.
      4. Utilize CT equipment to specified position and adjust equipment’s controls to set exposure factors.
      5. Utilize fluoroscopy equipment to specified position and adjust equipment’s controls to set exposure factors.
      6. Utilize surgical x-ray equipment to specified position and adjust equipment’s controls to set exposure factors.
      7. Prepare each exam modality with needed consumable supplies respective to designated radiology exam.
      8. Move x-ray equipment to specified position and adjust equipment’s controls to set exposure factors.
      9. Operate mobile x-ray equipment in emergency room, operating room, or patient’s bedside.
      10. Utilize radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff that follows government regulatory requirements.
      11. Prepare and provide oral contrast to those designated cat scan patients.
      12. Documents patient care data on department records.
      13. Implements universal precaution and all infection control policies relevant to the field of radiology.
      14. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by obtaining continuing education credits as required by ARRT and state of Illinois.
      15. Screens CT patient for patient history and contrast complications.
      16. Verifies bloodwork prior to relative cat scan procedures.
      17. Implements I.V. for relative patients needing intravenous x-ray contrast.
      18. Prepares intravenous contrast injector to perform with specified protocol.
      19. Check departmental consumable supplies for expiration or low supply.
      20. Requisitions weekly consumable supplies.
      21. Assist colleagues.
      22. Schedules patients for desired exam modality.
      23. Other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications


      Education Requirements and Other Requirements

      Education Level : Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from accredited college or technical school in the field of Radiography.

      Certification/Licensure : American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registered in Radiography, state of Illinois (IEMA) licensed for Radiologic Technologist.

      Experience Requirements : Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from accredited college or technical school in the field of Radiography. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registered in Radiography. Associates. Experience or training in the field of computed axial tomography (CAT,CT).

      Working Conditions: Exposure Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues: All procedures or other job related tasks that involve inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures should be required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
