      PURPOSE
      Instructs classes in Home Economics to enable students to develop lifelong living skills and to function in the dual role of homemaker and wage earner.

      McNary High School is seeking a passionate and skilled Culinary Arts Teacher to co-lead our high school culinary arts program. The ideal candidate will have experience in both professional cooking and teaching, with the ability to inspire students from basic culinary skills to advanced techniques. This position includes the instruction of culinary arts, catering, and food service business management, preparing students for careers in the culinary industry or further education in hospitality.

      Instructional Duties
      - Develop and implement a curriculum that covers basic to advanced culinary skills, including but not limited to food safety, sanitation, knife skills, cooking techniques, and menu planning.
      - Teach students about various cuisines, baking and pastry arts, and contemporary culinary trends.
      - Incorporate hands-on cooking labs, demonstrations, and interactive activities to engage students in learning.
      - Assess student progress through tests, practical exams, projects, and other evaluation methods.

      Classroom Management and Student Support
      - Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
      - Provide individualized support and guidance to students, fostering their personal and professional development.
      - Manage classroom and kitchen safety, ensuring that all students adhere to health and safety regulations.

      Qualifications
      - Professional culinary experience in a restaurant, catering, or food service environment preferred.
      - Teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification within a specified time frame.
      - Knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and business management principles.
      - Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
      - Passion for mentoring and inspiring young chefs and future food service professionals.
      - Prior teaching experience preferred.
