Job Description

- Bachelor's degree is preferred and/or 5 years or related experience
- Certification from an culinary school preferred
- Must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance
- At least five (5) years’ experience as an educator and/or culinarian
- Strong planning, research, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
- Proficiency in core Microsoft Office 365 products.
- Ability to calculate costing figures and saving estimates, apply concepts of basic algebra and must be extremely accurate in numeric calculations
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time based on needs

About This Position**This position is located in Lake City, Florida. Candidates must live in or near Lake City, Florida or be willing to relocate to Lake City.**
Impacting recidivism, the Culinary Instructor will train and coach incarcerated learners to become food service professionals and chefs through instruction and hands-on environment. The Culinary Instructor will lead learners in the preparation of healthy meals while monitoring and reporting on progress throughout the training program. Modifying delivery as needed to meet learners' needs to earn: College Credits, Certified Fundamentals Cook, CFC, by the American Culinary Federation ACF, ServSafe, and NOCTI's Workforce Competency.
Program courses include: Introduction to Foodservice Industry, Basic Cooking & Food Science, Introduction to Food Prep-mise en place, Menus, Recipes and Cost Management, Foundations of Stocks, Soups and Sauces, Preparing and Cooking Vegetables, Cooking Legumes, Grains, and Pasta, Cooking Methods for Meat, Poultry & Fish, Essentials of Food Presentation, Culinary Sanitation & Safety and Culinary Nutrition & Wellness. Graduates' learned skills, insights, and accreditations will increase potential job placements and career advancements more rapidly.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of training, teaching, and professionally developing culinary professionals. Strong communication skills are imperative, as well as a personal commitment and understanding of nutrition and sustainability.
