    • Three years of related experience and one year of supervisory experience
    • Proven leadership, team-building, and managerial skills
    • Expert knowledge of cleaning products, equipment and processes
    • Ability to read and explain basic operating instructions
    • Ability to plan and prioritize work and write reports
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license
    • Ensures that all school facilities and grounds are clean
    • Assigns daily work schedules for custodial staff, including specific areas and responsibilities
    • In conjunction with Building Foreman, prepares employee performance evaluations and monitors staff attendance
    • Conducts regular inspections and monitors custodial work to ensure adherence to established District cleaning standards
    • Plans and facilitates the custodial training program for new custodians and provides ongoing training for all custodial staff as needed
    • Manages the safe and secure storage and control of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment in order to ensure efficient practices and promote proper work habits.
    • Maintains a current record of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning products used on a daily basis
    • Performs routine custodial responsibilities as assigned
    • Participates in the recruitment, selection, and assignment of high-quality custodial personnel
    • Monitors safe working practices and safety programs for the purpose of ensuring efficient practices and promoting proper working habits.
    • Promptly prepares accident and injury reports for custodial staff.
    • Reports safety hazards and repair needs to appropriate personnel for the purpose of ensuring safe facilities.
    • Researches and tests new custodial methods, supplies and equipment for the purpose of improving custodial services.
    • Immediately advises the Administration of any conditions that would either threaten personal safety or adversely affect the educational process
    • Conducts department staff meetings and attends meetings at the request of the Building Foreman and administration
    • Other duties as assigned

    • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and climb ladders. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • Starting annual salary between $53,000 and $58,000 depending upon education and experience;
    • 12-month work year;
    • IMRF pension;
    • Paid 30-minute lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks;

    • 15+ paid holidays;

      Position summary: Manage custodial staff to provide a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment.

      Role qualifications:
