      Pay Range
      $22.83 - $27.73 Hourly
      Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

      Job Description

      We’re looking for Custodians to perform custodial tasks within the Laboratory’s facilities. Due to the unique hazards at the Laboratory, the Custodian must complete site-specific safety training and adhere to all safety and security requirements. These positions are for day shift and are in the Facility Site Services Division of the Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Department. This position may require work at Site 300 located in Tracy, California.

      You will

      • Perform routine custodial tasks inside and outside buildings, which include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms and kitchens, removing trash, and replenishing supplies.
      • Apply skills and knowledge of equipment and supplies applicable to vacuums, brooms, mops, and cleaning products.
      • Provide good customer service and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
      • Request and stock supplies and maintain custodian closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
      • Maintain custodial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
      • Ensure proper labeling, dilution, and use of chemicals.
      • Apply environmental, safety and health requirements in daily tasks.
      • Maintain compliance with institutional and job-specific required training.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
      • Experience in cleaning tasks, such as, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, removing trash and sanitizing restrooms and kitchens.
      • Experience utilizing and operating equipment and cleaning chemicals associated with custodial work and the ability to complete job-specific training.
      • Ability to work on a variety of custodial assignments in all types of environments (office, commercial/industrial, shops, and laboratories), including inside and outside of buildings.
      • Ability to identify, understand, and adhere to written instructions, facility signage, and health, safety, and security regulations.
      • Experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment adhering to assigned task schedules and demonstrated flexibility and willingness to accept change of assignment, start time, shift, and the ability to work overtime to accomplish goals.
      • Demonstrated ability to meet the demands of the work schedule, including the ability to get to assigned work locations within the Laboratory.
      • Demonstrated integrity and customer service skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as a team member.
      • Possess basic knowledge of computers to complete time keeping and online training.

      Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).

      Security Clearance

      This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.

      Pre-Employment Drug Test

      External applicant(s) selected for this position must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

      Pre-Placement Medical Exam
