      Overview

      Under the supervision of the Custodial Coordinator, the Custodian is responsible for the overallcleanliness of the facilities and/or assigned areas. This person must have a positive attitude, be able tobuild relationships with people in a friendly and consistent manner and support and portray the YMCACore values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility

      This is a part-time weekday evening position with possibility of occasional weekend or special event shift. Typical shift would be from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

      Responsibilities

      • Completes all duties on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Duties included, but not limited to, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, hot tub cleaning, steam room cleaning, cleaning of toilets and sinks, scrubbing showers and shower curtains, cleaning of fans and lockers, vacuuming, seasonal activities, taking soiled towels to the laundry, painting, snow removal, and general cleaning
      • Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
      • Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
      • Knows the location of all Safety Data Sheet folders and ensures there is the correct personal protection equipment available and used as required.
      • Maintains and updates the Safety Data Sheet folder as requested.
      • Ensures the building and property is secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
      • Ensures all supplies are filled and stocked as needed.
      • Participates in all custodial job trainings.
      • Set up furniture for special events as requested.
      • Help other employees with any additional jobs.
      • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and always demonstrating professional conduct.
      • Respond to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
      • Any other duties as requested.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

      • Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
      • Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
      • Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
      • Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
      • May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
      • Work in different temperature environments

      Qualifications

      • 6 months or more related experience.
      • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe and efficient use.
      • Should understand the upkeep and care of equipment and the ability to report and record maintenance requests.
      • Must be able to follow verbal and/or written instructions.

      Posted Salary Range
