The Customer Engagement Leader role is a field-based marketing position within the commercial US Biopharmaceutical Business unit (BBU) that will focus on commercial ESEs (External Scientific Experts) relationship engagement and management, building and developing brand advocacy, gathering and sharing key insights and supporting the strategic imperatives of the brand by influencing and shaping commercial success at regional and local levels.
The position will report to the Director, US Customer Strategy.
ESE Customer Engagement: Identify and effectively engage a core group of National, Regional, and Community ESEs, using advanced scientific, communication and business skills that build advocacy of the brand. Support brand for projects requiring ESE engagement, guidance, and/or involvement. Plan and implement Advisory Boards and other ESE insight generating programs.
Strategic Regional Marketing: Develop, design, and implement a Key Customer Marketing Action Plan (KC MAP) that aligns with brand strategic imperatives and is focused on achieving commercial objectives, generating insights, and building advocacy from key external thought leaders.
Insights Generation: Generate timely and actionable customer insights that inform brand strategy, decision-making, and other important marketing initiatives. Raise market and institutional challenges/barriers and recommended solutions to cross-functional leadership partners as appropriate.
Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with field sales leadership (IAS and DSM’s), account directors, and other brand partners to develop and implement national, regional and local strategies and tactics based on geographic market needs and opportunities.
Business Ethics and Acumen: Compliantly manage multiple program budgets, timelines, processes, and procedures while adhering to required policies and trainings/certifications.
Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in Business, Marketing, or the Sciences
5 years of Pharmaceutical or Healthcare experience
3 years of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Promotions experience such as field sales, product marketing, or thought leader engagement
Working knowledge of External Scientific Expert/Thought Leader engagement practices
Clinical/scientific knowledge in complex disease states
Experience developing strategy and completing against it
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Self-driven with strong organizing and planning skills
Highly collaborative with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Proven ability to manage large geographical territory
Travel requirements: Willing to travel >50% of the time including overnight and weekend travel as required
Advanced Degree
Prior experience and/or relationships within the Cardiovascular, Thrombosis, Neurology, GI and/or trauma area
Prior experience in hospital sales, marketing and/or thought leader engagement
Prior leadership experience and team management skills
Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess and get results
Preferable for an individual to live in one of the following cities/states and have close access to a major airport: Seattle- WA, Portland-OR, Los Angeles- CA, San Diego- CA, San Francisco- CA, Denver, CO

Where can I find out more?
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $132,800 to $182,600. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
