      The Cyber Defense Analyst will work with the Information Security Operations Manager to support the organization’s goals of ensuring the integrity and security of the Independent Financials’ systems and information.

      Responsibilities

      • Provide timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities.

      • Use cyber defense tools for continual monitoring and analysis of system to identify malicious activity.

      • Document and escalate incidents (including event’s history, status, and potential impact for further action) that may cause ongoing and immediate impact to the environment.

      • Perform event correlation using information gathered from a variety of sources within the enterprise to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness of an observed attack.

      • Investigate and conduct research, analysis, and correlation across a wide variety of all source data sets (indications and warnings).

      • Coordinate with enterprise-wide cyber defense staff to validate network alerts.

      • Identify and analyze anomalies in network traffic using metadata.

      • Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.

      • Create and update procedural documentation for investigations and alerts

      • Other duties as assigned by Security Operations Manager

      Qualifications

      Education and Minimum Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field

      • 3 year experience in a technical field such as, IT Support, Cybersecurity Analysis, Systems Administration.

      • Minimum 1 year of banking or financial institution experience preferred

      • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with network or computer systems

      Licenses and Certifications

      • SEC + preferred (Complete certification within 90 days of employment)

      Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

      • Intermediate proficiency in the use of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Visio for reports, analysis, and presentations

      • Knowledge of SIEM and other security tools including but not limited to XDR, firewalls, and HIDs

      • Highly organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a proven ability to multi-task and who can work independently with minimal supervision

      • Outstanding organizational and effective time management skills

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills

      • Ability to be influential and establish positive working relationships

      • Outstanding organizational and effective time management skills

      • Ability to obtain, analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources

      • Superior problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills

      • Knowledge of FFIEC, GLBA and Bank Secrecy Act, and NIST preferred
