      Job Overview

      Responsible for the performance of highly complex information technology security functions related to the design, installation, maintenance, auditing, investigation, and education of users on best cyber security practices to support the County’s enterprise level information systems. Performs duties in security areas including forensics, incident response, ethical penetration testing, security architecture, and end user information security awareness. Tests for vulnerabilities, investigates cyber security incidents, utilizes SIEM technology to collect logs and analyze information, monitors technologies, reviews physical security, and installs various security technologies.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Conduct thorough assessments of software applications, networks, and systems to identify security vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
      • Utilize various tools and methodologies to perform vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and code review.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and address vulnerabilities based on potential impact and risk.
      • Provide detailed reports outlining vulnerabilities, including their potential impact and recommendations for remediation.
      • Stay updated with the latest security threats, attack vectors, and industry best practices to identify and address emerging vulnerabilities proactively.
      • Work closely with developers and system administrators to implement security patches, fixes, and improvements.
      • Participate in designing and implementing security measures to prevent future vulnerabilities.
      • Assist in incident response activities, analyzing security incidents to determine the root cause and providing recommendations for prevention.
      • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and researchers to exchange information about vulnerabilities and security trends.
      • Other related duties as assigned.

      Job Specifications

      • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), network protocols, and web application technologies.
      • Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools, penetration testing frameworks, and security assessment methodologies.
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
      • Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Considerable knowledge of best practices such as CIS Critical Controls.
      • Ability to act as a team technical liaison for externally managed technology projects from the enterprise project management office and other departments.
      • Ability to identify systemic security issues based on vulnerability and configuration data analysis.
      • Must possess a high level of personal integrity and the ability to handle confidential matters and show appropriate judgment and maturity professionally.

      Physical Requirements

      • Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
      • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
      • Work is usually performed in an office environment.

      Work Category

      • Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

      Minimum Qualifications Required

      • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in information technology or related cyber security field; AND
      • Three years of computer information security system administration, information security analysis, investigation, or risk assessment experience in a large network environment; OR
      • An equivalent combination of education (not less than a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
      • Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License may be required based on area of assignment.

      Emergency Management Responsibilities

      In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
