      Salary Range: $45.8900 - $70.5400 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

      Primary Duties and Responsibilities

      The Cytotechnologist I performs microscopic screening and preparation of cytology specimens. Verifies specimens are received labeled in accordance with department policy and procedure. Produces accurate microscopic diagnosis. Reviews and summarizes charts for Pathologists on cytology cases. Responds appropriately to discrepant microscopic diagnosis.

      Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the laboratory mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, quality control requirements, and preventative maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.

      Education and Experience

      • Baccalaureate Degree in medical technology or related science preferred.
      • Knowledge of section specific test methodology and instrumentation is required. Previous experience as a Cytotechnologist preferred.

      License

      Required:

      • Must meet and maintain current State of California licensure requirements for Cytotechnologist

      Certifications

      Required:

      • Cytotechnologist (CT) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT) certification
