- JOB SUMMARY

Performs duties of a Cytotechnologist, including, but are not limited to: sample accessioning and preparation, sample screening, report generation, reagent preparation, quality control and quality assurance record keeping associated with cytology procedures.

- JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education and/or experience: Requires the education, training, experience and certification required for licensure by the State of Tennessee as a Cytotechnologist
Knowledge: Must have a thorough technical knowledge of cytology; must have the scientific and technical knowledge required to make an interpretation based upon the microscopic appearance of the cytologic specimen.
Skills: Must have good verbal and written communication skills; must have good problem solving skills. Must have computer skills sufficient to operate multiple operational systems; must have sufficient mechanical skills to operate, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory instruments and/or follow directions to troubleshoot and/or repair laboratory instruments;
Abilities: Must have the ability to function as part of a work team; must be able to provide leadership in an acceptable manner to subordinate personnel; must be able multitask; must be able to prioritize multiple demands; must be able to respond professionally in emergency situations. Must be able to take over a laboratory process/procedure begun by another.
