Plan, deliver, and evaluate educational programs and applied research initiatives for dairy producers and industry professionals.
Provide expertise in advanced dairy production practices, including business management, transition cow management, reproduction/genetics, alternative dairy production methods, and facility design.
Conduct informal education programs using innovative methodologies, such as online courses, videos, mobile apps, electronic publications, and traditional in-person presentations.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and deliver impactful, research based educational initiatives.
Work closely with university-based research faculty to identify and address clientele needs through applied research.
Develop original content to engage and educate audiences statewide and beyond.
Contribute to improving dairy management practices and the economic viability of the Pennsylvania dairy industry.
Participate in developing a diverse external funding portfolio (e.g., grants, contracts, cost recovery, development) to support program initiatives.
Commit to fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive programs.
This position will be based in Somerset County and require statewide program participation and delivery.
Compensation will be based on the experience of the successful candidate.

Experience in diverse aspects of dairy management, with an emphasis on dairy business management or facility design/animal behavior skills as a valuable asset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required; candidates who speak and write Spanish fluently to effectively communicate with diverse audiences are preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team with diverse populations and audiences.
Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office 365.
Valid driver's license, access to a private automobile, and willingness to travel extensively within the state. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Position Summary:
Serve as a nationally recognized Penn State Extension Dairy Team member. This role involves planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating educational and applied research programs for dairy producers, employees, and industry representatives. The successful candidate will provide education and technical assistance on advanced dairy production practices, business management, nutrient management, reproduction, and facility design. Extension educators utilize a variety of informal educational methodologies to engage diverse audiences in their programming efforts effectively.

This position will be filled at the level of Intermediate Professional or Advanced Professional, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Intermediate Professional level requires a minimum of a master's degree and one or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
