Supporting the implementation of Data & Analytics projects and initiatives
Creating reports and dashboards using Power BI and SQL
Creating re-usable curated datasets using SQL
Work with Data & Analytics team to drive data literacy across BCI
Has a keen interest in data & technology and is a self-starter
Demonstrates they are a team player, but can also work independently
Demonstrates an extremely strong work ethic and displays initiative to strive to deliver value above and beyond the job description
Comes up with creative ideas to improve the business reporting process
Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail
Has an interest in data, a dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn
Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
Familiarity using Microsoft 365 tools such as One Drive, SharePoint Online, and MS Teams would be an asset
Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI
Ability to read and write basic code scripts in SQL
Excellent career development and training by contributing to a strategic program with high visibility
Work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment

2 paid days per year for volunteering
Competitive pay:
$4,350 gross monthly or $4,700 gross monthly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary.
$4,350 gross monthly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate.
$4,700 gross monthly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree.
BCI investment professionals lead a monthly Investment Club to share industry knowledge with employees who work in other departments
Travel: if coming to Victoria or Vancouver for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location
Work term: Winter 2024 (January to April)

All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria or Vancouver office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.

The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a co-op student/intern to support projects & initiatives being implemented as part of our Data & Analytics strategy for the Winter 2024 work term (January to April).
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The co-op/intern will work within our Corporate Data & Operations department as part of the Data & Analytics team. This is a great opportunity for you to learn and apply your knowledge to support the implementation of strategy, projects and services to the corporation. As part of your work, you’ll help to support change management activities related to these initiatives.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Corporate Data & Operations department delivers centralized, corporate business services that require partnership and integration across BCI departments. This role will work in the Data & Analytics team, which delivers analytics solutions (e.g. reports and dashboards), curated re-usable datasets, data science, data platforms, and data governance.
