      DATA ANALYST

      The University of Alabama at Birmingham

      The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Data Analyst. This position is responsible for data management and analysis for a department or division.

      Position Summary

      The majority of the work of this position will entail working with the study investigators to finalize a statistical analysis plan for each research question/manuscript, manipulating source data to prepare analytic datasets, preparing the final analytic datasets, conducting the intended analyses, regularly maintaining data analysis memos, reporting the results in needed formats (e.g., tables or figures for manuscripts), and working with the study team members to optimize interpretation of findings to dissemination of results from data perspectives. The position may have some overlap with data management elements, such as programming of questionnaires in REDCap or data quality checks to ensure optimal quality and accuracy of data. The position may also have some overlap with manuscript development and grant writing and support as needed by the study teams.

      Key Duties & Responsibilities

      • Completes extensive programming for data manipulation and generates various statistical analyses.
      • Oversees and manages security and integrity of data.
      • May require development and use of various software packages and systems.
      • Coordinates data collection
      • Complies data analysis memos, reports and working with team members.
      • Maintain data management
      • Understand software system.
      • Administers data analysis
      • Conducts data management in REDCAP
      • Acknowledges of data manipulations.
      • Anticipates in manuscript or grant writing
      • Perform other duties as assigned

      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

      • Written and verbal communication skills
      • Interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment.
      • Excellent computer skills, including basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power point); shared drives (e.g., Box, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox); and statistical software packages (e.g., R, SAS, or STATA)
      • Problem-solving skills, attention to details

      Salary Range- $ $47,665 - $77,455

      • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math, Psychology, Statistics or a related field
      • And two (2) years of related experience required.
      • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
