      POSITION TITLE: Data Analyst
      DEPARTMENT: Office of Hispanic-Serving Initiatives (OHSI)
      REPORTS TO: Director of Hispanic-Serving Initiatives (OHSI)
      POSITION SUMMARY:
      The Data Analyst in the Office of Hispanic-Serving Initiatives plays an important role in supporting Dominican University’s mission to promote educational access and success for all students through a dedicated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) framework. The Data Analyst will focus on collecting and organizing data related to student demographics, academic outcomes, and program effectiveness. They will work closely with team members and stakeholders across the university to provide data that supports strategic initiatives and policy decisions, contributing to the university’s commitment to its HSI identity.
      This is a grant-funded position (100 %) through the Title V A3 Avanzamos HSI Grant through September 2027. Each grant year is contingent upon renewed funding by the Department of Education.
      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Collect and organize data related to student demographics, enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and other relevant metrics.
      • Support data analysis efforts by preparing datasets and conducting basic statistical analyses to identify trends and insights.
      • Collaborate with team members and departments to understand data needs and ensure accurate data collection and entry.
      • Maintain and update databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
      • Create data reports, charts, and visualizations to help communicate findings to team members and stakeholders.
      • Support the preparation of data for grant proposals and reporting, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.
      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Education, Social Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
      • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R, or Python) and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
      • Basic knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
      • Familiarity with SQL and database management.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
      • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present data in a clear and accessible manner.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Master’s degree preferred.
      • Experience working with data representing multicultural groups.
      • Independent worker with strong follow-through and ability to document in writing developmental activity.
      • Experience or coursework related to data analysis in a higher education setting.
      • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
      Physical Demands:
      • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
      • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
      Salary and FLSA Status
      • Salary: $45,000 - $53,000 annually
      • FLSA Status: Exempt, 37.5 hours
