      Description:


      Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in leading data collection, analysis, and reporting initiatives within the Office of the Dean, Graduate Studies, and Vice-Provost, Graduate Research and Education (OVPGRE). This position supports strategic decision-making by senior administrators through the management of graduate student data, contributing to the development of policies and enhancing data transparency across the institution.

      The Data Analyst will collaborate with teams from various units/divisions on graduate data projects, ensuring the accurate collection and integration of data. Key responsibilities include determining methodologies for data collection, executing queries, managing databases, resolving data integrity issues, and summarizing complex statistical information. The role also involves developing data visualizations, assisting in report creation, and providing administrative support for special projects.

      As this role continues to evolve, the Data Analyst must demonstrate adaptability to shifting priorities and a proactive, collaborative approach within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

      Qualifications:
      (MINIMUM)

      Education:


      University Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

      Experience:


      At least five (5) years of related experience; Experience using data visualization software (e.g. Tableau); Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, including completing systematic literature reviews and summaries, web-based surveys, interviews, and other research techniques; Experience analyzing data from multiple sources and creating polished written, descriptive/statistical, and visual reports of results; Project management experience.

      Skills:


      Strong technical skills: Expertise in word processing, relational databases, spreadsheet applications (e.g. Excel), statistical packages (e.g. SPSS, SAS), presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint) and data visualization software (e.g Tableau); Familiarity with institutional data and central systems. Familiarity with database querying tools, such as SQL, and programming languages; Ability to carry out a variety of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis including regression analysis and other techniques; Aptitude for numerate work and statistics, and analytical ability.

      Other:


      Ability to convey information in oral, written and graphical presentations; Ability to explain complex statistical analysis to decision makers and probe for information to establish needs; Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team, demonstrates initiative, creativity, curiosity, and attention to detail balanced by ability to see the “big picture;” Effective problem solving and ability to judge whether results of data analysis “make sense” in the context of the business function; Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail and high degree of accuracy are paramount attributes; Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines; Strong problem solving skills; good judgment and discretion working with confidential data; Awareness of issues pertaining to small sample sizes and sensitivity to data anomalies; Must be able to deal with changing priorities and work to deadlines with ease and flexibility.
