Data Analytics Coordinator

Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

Annual Salary: $68,307 - $81,556

Closing Date: November 29, 2023 or upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions

Job Summary: The Data Analytics Coordinator will leverage large datasets to inform the County and EMS system and translate data into action. The primary work includes cleansing, manipulation, analyzing, and visualizing/communicating data utilizing multiple tools and modern technology. Specific expertise is needed in programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, Power BI, and machine learning to increase data quality.

Job Responsibilities:

• Data Quality, Manipulation, and Programming: Utilize a variety of technological tools (such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, R, SQL, machine learning algorithms, and Python) to clean, manipulate, transform, analyze, and automate data and related processes.
• Data Analysis and Presentation : Conduct exploratory, statistical, and predictive analyses related to EMS and public health. Visualize and communicate data strategically. Methods of sharing data is flexible and audience dependent and will require effective use of a business intelligence tool.
• Collaborate with Local, Regional, State, Federal, & Private partners: Collaborate with technical and non-technical partners and subject matter experts to set data strategy, identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance.
• Data Requests/Research : Fulfill data requests with partners according to established procedure.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current resident of the state of Wisconsin
• Possess an active Wisconsin Driver's License which must be maintained throughout employment.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Public Health, Data Science, Social Science or equivalent experience.
• At least three (3) years of recent experience in Data Analytics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or Statistics.
• At least three (3) years of experience in data analytics and reporting for decision-making.
• At least three (3) years of experience in visualizing data, including the use of a business intelligence tool, preferably Power BI
• At least one (1) year of experience in programming language such as Python, SQL, and R.
• At least one (1) year of experience working with large datasets and data management systems.

• Strong communicator, collaborator, and relationship-building required.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with advanced data analysis and modeling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: skilled at analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, sustained mental activity (i.e., auditing, problem solving, composing reports). Ability to maintain sensitive or confidential information, explain and gather information, answer queries, or aid internal and/or external contacts. Ability to persuade, conform or recommend course of action with internal and/or external contacts. Ability to perform with a high degree of authority in securing understanding and cooperation with internal and/or external contacts. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, reports, short correspondence, and memos, speak effectively before both internal and/or external group. The ability to act as a leader and make informed/anticipated independent decisions quickly; ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 15-20lbs as needed.
