      Are you a current college student looking for an opportunity to gain hands on experience in Data Analytics. Gundersen Health System is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical individual to join our Business Intelligence Team!

      What Will You Do?

      The Data Analytics Intern assists with the design and population of databases and spreadsheets for data entry. Performs data collection from the paper and electronic medical records and other source documents into computer applications. Develops and runs standard reports from the data, converts to graphical display using data display standards. This position may also perform other duties and report writing.

      What's Available:

      • Part time, ideally 10-20 hours a week between Monday-Friday 6:00am-6:00pm

      • Located On-Site at our Support Services Building in Onalaska, Wisconsin

      An Ideal Candidate Will Have:

      • Junior or Senior Student pursuing Data Analytics, IT or related field

      • Interest in a future career in a health care setting

      • Familiarity with Business Intelligence Tools - Power BI, SQL, Python

      • Immigration sponsorship (e.g., H-1B) is not available for this position.

      Job Description:

      Gundersen Health System provides a professional hands-on experience tailored to meet the interests of the interns in conjunction with the current activities of the department. Internships are available to students who have graduated from or are currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelors or master's degree program.

      The Data Analytics Intern assists with the design and population of databases and spreadsheets for data entry. Performs data collection from the paper and electronic medical records and other source documents into computer applications. Develops and runs standard reports from the data, converts to graphical display using data display standards. This position may also perform other duties and report writing.

      Major Responsibilities:

      1. Assists in analysis of data and summarizes results.

      2. Updates existing reports and projects with most recent data; assist with publication of reports to the web site as requested.

      3. Contacts originators of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.

      4. Monitors outcomes against established goals and objectives.

      5. Gathers specific, requested data for improvement projects.

      6. Access and abstract data from clinical documentation systems as requested.

      7. Performs basic report writing out of departmental Access/Excel files as directed.

      8. Design and populate Access databases that accept downloaded data to sort and analyze.

      9. Verifies and commits data to spreadsheets or databases.

      10. Enters data from source documents into a spreadsheet or database.

      11. Creates and updates catalog of data collection forms to record owner and storage location of data.

      12. Develops and runs queries from Access/Excel as directed.

      13. Adheres to strict organizational confidentiality standards.

      14. Develops auditing and monitoring tools; performs maintenance and support of systems.

      15. May perform routine office support such as making copies, faxing, scanning, filing or routing source documents, and monitoring documents to meet retention policy standards

      16. Performs job-related responsibilities as requested.

      Education and Learning:
      REQUIRED
      Post High School education in a specialized field:
      Currently in or graduated from an Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's Program in a related field.

      Work Experience:
      DESIRED
      1 year in a related field.
