      Job summary

      This new role of Data and Analytics Senior Manager will be responsible for the development and realisation of NIHRResearch Delivery Network (RDN) strategic programmes regarding Data and Analytics, underpinned byoperational oversight of activities within this function.

      This role leads the Regional RDN (RRDN) Data and Analytics team, which forms part of the national RDN Data and Analytics unit, who collectively work to deliver national projects alongside regional priorities and innovation.

      The NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN) is part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research. We are funded by the Department of Health and Social Care to support the country's world-class research system to deliver high-quality research that enables the best care for our population.

      This role is with the NIHR South West Central Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN), which is hosted by University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW).

      Main duties of the job

      • Be responsible for contributing to a national, multi-year Data and Analytics strategy and managing itsimplementation across the RRDN, ensuring that the plan to implement the strategy within the regionaligns to and complements the national strategy and is approved by the RRDN leadership team.
      • Work with the RRDN Strategic Development Director and national Data and Analytics forum todevelop strategies, knowledge and information needed to support senior managers in makinginformed strategic decisions.
      • Be responsible for the development and provision of reporting and digital solutions across the RRDN,working collaboratively with RRDN research Delivery Organisations and RDN services and functionsto understand their requirements.
      • Lead on Data and Analytics projects across the RRDN geography.
      • Lead on and/or provide Data and Analytics expertise for national projects, including representing theRRDN at the national Data and Analytics forum. Within this capacity the postholder will be responsiblefor leading on projects with a national remit.
      • Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the RRDN Data and Analytics Function.

      • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
      • Background in research and development, science or healthcare

      • An in depth understanding of the UK health research system, including the NIHR
      • Significant experience with and knowledge of solutions for data visualisation and analytics.
      • Able to use judgement and apply complex analysis with an understanding of relationships within data that lead to business intelligence insights and efficiency increases
      • An understanding of and experience with using Agile concepts/methodology
      • Significant experience with Microsoft and Google platforms
      • Proven experience of working successfully as part of several teams
      • Proven staff management experience with the ability to gain their support, motivate and develop them
      • Experience of managing a customer-focused service
      • Professional leadership at an operational level
      • Experienced at project management, with a good understanding of the complexities involved
      • Demonstration of strategic thinking and strategy development
