      Job Summary

      The Data Center Technician II’s main responsibility is to perform intake for various data center work orders, review requirements, discern the appropriate action steps, and implement the necessary infrastructure upgrades using industry expertise. This role keeps current with industry standards, growth, and changes in technology. This is a 24/7 100% on campus position and requires flexibility and willingness to cover shifts of any hour with short notice. Infrequent travel to remote facilities may be required. Additionally, this position may be scheduled to work during off-hours that may fall outside of normal business hours or during the weekend, and periodically assigned after-hour support and availability to receive pages 24-7. Work is primarily performed in general office area. As our ideal candidate, you will have data center related experience, and experience working with server operating systems, such as Windows 2016/2019, Azure and Active Directory, to include experience leading projects. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, enjoys working in a team and is a great fit within our group.

      Experience and Education

      Minimum Requirements

      • Associates degree in a technical field and at least three (3) years of job-related experience.
      • May be required to submit to a federal background investigation.
      • Additional job-related experience may be considered in lieu of education.

      Preferred

      • Data center related experience
      • Server operating systems
      • Azure and Active directory

      Job Duties

      • Monitors and responds to failures including those related to power, hardware, network, and facilities.
      • Analyzes system events/alerts and diagnoses potential root causes.
      • Utilize elevated access and sound judgement during remediation processes.
      • Responds to system hardware issues by applying diagnostics, troubleshooting, testing, and reimplementation.
      • Carries out shipping/receiving duties to maintain accurate inventory control and asset tracking.
      • Conducts issue tracking and responds to incidents in a timely manner.
      • Runs cable as specified in work orders, often including Fiber and Ethernet.
      • Assists with project initiatives and collaborates with other technicians and engineers.
      • Assists with the auditing and verification of data center equipment and operations.
      • Interacts with clients via written communication and phone and showcases high quality customer service.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      • Work requires analytical, diagnosing, and troubleshooting skills.
      • Work requires exercise of moderate judgment.
      • Work requires ability to troubleshoot and diagnosis system and hardware related issues.
      • Work requires intermediate knowledge of system firmware versioning and aspects of version control.
      • Work requires intermediate knowledge of various network cabling mediums including Fiber and Ethernet.
      • Work requires basic knowledge of enterprise server operating systems (Windows/Unix/Linux) and core Microsoft platforms and products.
      • Work requires basic knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and network administration.
      • Work requires soft skills such as collaboration, teamwork, communication (written and verbal), problem-solving, detail-oriented, and ability to manage time.
