      This Internship in Data & Analytics is all about integrating knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and developing your skills in a professional setting. You will gain valuable experience in data engineering in a corporate healthcare setting.

      Data is a key asset for Tenet Healthcare and the Data & Analytics group work with a variety of data from disparate sources to provide a whole host of analytics ranging from BI reporting and dashboards to advanced analytics like retrospective and predictive models. This directly helps in measuring and improving quality of care provided to communities Tenet serves. You will play a key role in advancing our data engineering capabilities in all facets of data i.e ingestion, curation, orchestration, governance, and analytics to ultimately deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

      Internship description/opportunities:

      • Building required data pipelines for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources following established ingestion patterns and utilizing frameworks on Google Cloud Platform.
      • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery.
      • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
      • Assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
      • Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.
      • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems

      Timeline:

      • June 3-August 2, 2024; full-time, paid internship

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Proficient with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python)
      • Proficient with relational databases and SQL
      • Familiarity and experience with big data technologies (eg: Hive, Spark, Presto) preferred
      • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely
      • Independence and passion for innovation and learning new technologies

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Info Systems or equivalent experience, with a passion for data
      • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
      • Interest in learning about healthcare information technology

      Additional information: this role will be in-person, full time at the Addison (International Plaza) location

      EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

      • Pursuing undergraduate degree with a major in healthcare management, business administration, accounting, finance or human resources
      • Prefer GPA of 3.0 or higher
      • Prefer sophomore, junior or senior level
      • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
