Job summary
You will be administering and supporting a range of SQL Servers and databases as part of the Trust Data Warehouse.
This role will include the following duties:
Data capacity planning and monitoring.
Database design.
Performance monitoring, including index maintenance.
Troubleshooting
Configuration and installation
Security, data recovery, and migration.
Occasionally managing Oracle databases, MySQL and/or Postgres databases.
Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.
Providing primary DBA support for application databases, including space monitoring and managing security, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and database refresh processes.
You will be working alongside a team of Information Analysts providing them with technical support, analyse and interpret their requirements and specifications and set up appropriate processes to satisfy their data needs.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing SQL Server database environments while ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity.
Primary Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances and related tools across development, testing, and production environments.
Implement and manage database backup and recovery procedures, ensuring RPO/RTO requirements are met.
Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies using tools like Query Store, Performance Monitor, and SQL Profiler.
Design and implement high availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, and failover clustering.
Manage security including user access, permissions, and role assignments.
Develop and maintain documentation for database procedures, standards, and configurations.
Technical Requirements:
Expert knowledge of SQL Server (versions 2016-2023) administration and T-SQL.
Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
Strong understanding of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery options.
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation.
Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
