      About the Role:

      At Guardant Health our mission is to conquer cancer with data; as such software sits at the core of everything we do. While we’re best known for our molecular diagnostics, which unlock the genomic signatures of cancer, these tests are just the first step in the equation. Turning this genomic data into actionable insights shared with thousands of patients, physicians, and researchers in a scalable, reliable, and secure fashion is a software product challenge.

      We are building a unique software stack to manage an ecosystem of microservices, RESTful APIs, and data integrations with internal and external systems to deliver useful and elegant user experiences in the extraordinarily complex oncology diagnostic and therapeutic landscape. We connect patients with clinical trials, help clinicians order our test and receive our clinical reports, and deliver valuable genomic datasets to researchers to help uncover important insights into treatment paradigms and drug discovery.

      The software team is looking for a highly motivated Summer Intern – Data Engineering and Analytics to build data pipelines and Analytics for GH Screening to support end-to-end workflow from order entry, sample processing, billing, and final delivery of results to physicians and patients. You will interact with a diverse team of data engineers, and software engineers to develop software in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

      Essetial Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Support the Screening DataPlatform and Analytics team in building ETL pipelines, KPI metrics reports

      • Perform large-scale data analysis to extract useful business insights

      • Work closely with a Product Manager and Engineering team to understand Data requirements and implement the pipelines

      • Work on latest Data technology stack such as AWS Glue, Appflow, Redshift, S3 and Tableau to develop the reports

      • Suggest improvements in the tools and techniques to help scale the team

      Qualifications

      • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, (Data Analytics specialization preferred), Applied Mathematics, Statistics or related field

      • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills

      • Strong Database and SQL knowledge (JOINS, CTE functions stored procedures etc.)

      • Development experience in at least one scripting language (Python, Java, NodeJS)

      Additional Information

      Hybrid Work Model : At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires.       For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the hourly range for this full-time position is Undergraduate $29/hr., Graduate $34/hr., and Doctorate $42/hr. The range does not include benefits and, if applicable, overtime, bonus, commission, or equity.

      Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

      Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
