As a Data Engineer in our Data Platform, you will focus on the implementation of the data transformation architecture that is the backbone of the analytical data platform at Zalando. By constantly challenging the status quo, you and your team deliver high-performance data processing solutions that are efficient and reliable at scale.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Work within Zalando's central data infrastructure team that is responsible for mission-critical services for the whole Zalando group
• Design and build services that will serve analysts, data engineers and machine learning pipelines all over Zalando
• Grow a key component of Zalando's data strategy and drive innovation towards world-class data transformation systems at a massive scale
• Consult and help our diverse teams to develop, implement and maintain sustainable, high-performance, growth-ready data-processing and data integration systems
• Work with product managers, principal engineers, and your peers in the neighbouring infrastructure teams to further develop the system architecture and ensure its seamless integration into Zalando's central data platform
• Ensure operational excellence, and further develop the platform based on Databricks to deliver impact at a rapidly growing scale

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• Proficient knowledge in working with distributed data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or a strong motivation to learn it
• Engineering craftsmanship with an experience in software development processes focusing on testing, continuous integration/continuous delivery, monitoring and writing documentation
• Hands-on experience in cloud technologies (preferably AWS) and container/orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Solid programming skills in Python or Scala, or other JVM languages combined with SQL knowledge
