Job Description

- Manage privacy-related issues that have been escalated to the Privacy Office.
- Educate European entities and employees of their obligations under the GDPR and any other applicable EU member state data protection provisions.
- Develop and deliver privacy communications and training to ensure competence and compliance.
- Monitor the EU entities compliance with the GDPR and any other applicable EU member state data protection and perform audits of compliance with such laws and regulations.
- Ensure Privacy by Design processes are embedded into business processes.
- Liaise, partner and act as the contact for the data protection supervisory authorities on matters relating to the processing of personal data and other matters.
- Develop privacy metrics, following the Assurant Global Privacy Office’s practices, and provide reports to the relevant Executive Managers and EU entities governance boards, and present to European governance forums on privacy & data protection issues.
- Partner with the lines of business in the investigation and management of potential breaches/instances of non-compliance to support prompt and accurate reporting.
- Monitor compliance with applicable data protection regulations and Company procedures.
- Degree level education and 5 years minimum of privacy work experience, of which you have experience performing a variety of privacy programme components with a high degree of independence.
- Experience implementing privacy and data protection programmes
- Expert level understanding of privacy program management and European privacy laws and regulations (such as GDPR), ability to apply and implement rules, codes and guidance
- English language is important, Dutch language is a preference
- Experience collaborating with Supervisory Authorities
- Demonstrated project management skills, including leading multiple work streams in a resource-constrained environment
- Demonstrated ability of applying privacy requirements to practical use cases beyond policy formulation and compliance
- Experience drafting, implementing and maintaining internal and external privacy notices, policies, procedures and other guidance documents

The opportunity:
Reporting to the International Privacy Officer, the Data Protection Officer (‘DPO’) ensures that Privacy policies, processes and procedures are in place across the European business entities, and supporting, maintaining and further implementing the Assurant Global Privacy & Data Protection Program, observing the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable European data protection laws. The DPO will be the subject matter expert on European data protection topics, provide advice, monitor and report on Privacy and Data Protection issues and lead the investigations about potential data incidents. You will be part of and report into the Assurant Global Privacy Office
