As a Data Science Intern working for the Data Management Services (DMS) department at our Oslo Hub location, you will focus on Geophysical Data Curation and Cloud Computing. You will work with our innovative DataVerse platform to assemble and curate geophysical datasets and will develop demonstration applications to showcase the platforms capabilities and contribute to cloud-based workflows for efficient data handling. This role offers an exciting blend of data science, geophysics, and cloud computing:TGS provides scientific data and intelligence to companies active in the energy sector. In addition to a global, extensive and diverse energy data library, TGS offers specialized services such as advanced processing and analytics alongside cloud-based data applications and solutions.
Minimum Requirements include:
• Enrolled in a degree program in Data Science, Computer Science, Geophysics, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
• Familiarity with data management and cataloging systems.
• Experience with geophysical data is helpful, but not essential.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of geophysical data types and processing techniques (preferred but not required).
Key Program Information:
• Students will participate in engaging activities and collaborate closely with a dedicated Mentor and Buddy for guidance and support throughout the program.
• The program spans 12–14 weeks during the summer months, offering flexibility within that range. TGS practice flexible working hours with the opportunity to work from home up to one day per week.
• This role will be located in our Oslo Office in Norway, working closely with peers abroad. Students interested in the position must be prepared to relocate independently to the area for the duration of the internship.
• Students are required to arrange their own reliable transportation to and from the job site.
• The 2025 TGS Summer Internship is a 3–4 month, on-site program designed to provide a specialized project aligned with your skills and interests while offering opportunities to learn from our experienced leaders and colleagues.
