  Project Outline:

  During the 12-week period, the intern will be guided and is expected to finish the action items below:

  • Learn how to download, collect, and process raw data from data portal and prepare data set for machine learning analysis.

  • Learn basic and advanced skills in how to process language data and convert the data into numeric vectors via LLM pretrained models.

  • Use deep learning machine learning packages in python to build learning algorithms for the collected big language data.

  • Explore ways to use GPT resources to extract information from input text data via software programing and design this process as an app.

  • Combine all above items together to build the first working model of conducting deep learning study on language data with pretrained LLM model as backbone.

  • The position will be on hybrid at location in Cambridge MA.

  Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Takeda does not provide sponsorship for internship positions.

  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week), within the core business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, for 10-12 weeks during the summer months.

  • Graduate, PhD, MD student with completion of a minimum of one year of university studies.

  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship with Takeda.

  • Skills in programming languages such as R and Python are needed.

  • Experience in building deep learning models for document classification.

  • Experience in using the recent pretrained LLM (eg: bioBert) and/or using GPT via API is a plus.

  • Please note that Takeda does not provide intern housing or a housing stipend.

  The hourly pay rate range is $20.00 per hour - $46.00 per hour. The final pay rate offered for this internship may consider several factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
