We are looking for an outstanding Data Scientist to join the Content Analytics group and build core analytics to support our Music Editorial teams, meaning the teams of music experts at Spotify who curate playlists and musical experiences

      What You’ll Do
      • Learn about music data, build relationships with music experts around the world, and over time, take on a variety of ad-hoc analyses. You’ll extract actionable insights from large datasets and drive decisions in the field of music recommendations.
      • Improve on a suite of data tools primarily built for Spotify’s editorial teams, covering a range of angles into how listeners seek out music and engage with recommendations.
      • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to non-technical audiences, through clear visualizations and data storytelling
      • Train editorial teams around the world on how to use data & insights. Own and improve on the documentation of data tools and training material
      • Engineer novel data sets that shed a new light on the dynamics of music listening


      Who You Are
      • You have a degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics; advanced degree is desirable
      • 2+ years of relevant experience performing data analysis or data science.
      • You are entirely autonomous in SQL (a must)
      • Data visualization is one of the aspects of data science that you enjoy the most. You have a strong aptitude with business intelligence softwares such as Tableau and Google Data Studio. (a must)
      • Experience with Python is a strong plus
      • Experience creating and scheduling datasets is also highly valued.
      • You are passionate about music. Previous experience in creative industries is a preference, but not a hard requirement if you have a deep empathy for how the music art form is created and enjoyed.
      • You are a natural communicator. You focus just as much on how you deliver your findings, as you do on the technical craft of uncovering new insights.

      • Onsite: New York, Boston, Berlin, London or Stockholm

      The United States base range for this position is $86,691 to $123,844, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
