- Responsible for entering daily donation batches, processing thank you letters, online donations, and assisting with special mailings.
- Responsible for administering Christmas Tribute and Gift Catalog program during Holiday Season. Responsible for interacting with donors by phone and email, editing mailing list, coordinating the printing and mailing of Christmas Tribute cards, reporting Christmas Tribute program, and maintaining supplies.
- Assist Senior Data Specialist with maintaining and updating donor information in Raiser’s Edge.
- Lend support to data services team during special events, reservations, mailing, and faxing general information packets.
- Help keep storage room and work room neat and in order.
- Participate in Ministry and prayer activities, as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:
The Data Specialist is primarily responsible for entering daily donation batches, assisting the Senior Data Specialist process thank you letters and online donations, and overseeing the Christmas Tribute Program.

Qualifications:
Education, Skills & Experience: Requires a High School Diploma or GED; 2 years of business school or equivalent work experience preferred. Must be able to type 50 WPM. Ability to learn Raiser’s Edge and other advanced software programs. Valid Texas Driver’s License, with acceptable driving record and current liability insurance.
Detail oriented with strong communication skills, including formal letter writing. Must be able to clearly communicate information, policies, and procedures to donors, volunteers, and meet deadlines. Good judgement in dealing with confidential matters. Ability to work well independently, as well as with others. P rofessional appearance and behavior. Ability to problem-solve, work well without supervision, and multi-task.
Be able to work respectfully, professionally and in a Christ-like manner with everyone, able to maintain required client/staff boundaries and possess a willingness to serve the Lord in a ministry that deals with homeless men, women and children.
Equipment Used: General Office Supplies (Calculator, Telephone, Stapler, etc.), Computer Equipment (Monitor, Keyboard, etc.), and Copier/Fax/Printer, Postage Meter, Folder Inserted, Cleaning Supplies, Software: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Sphere (Inventory supply).
Work Environment: Normal business hours, office environment, occasional weekend or evening events. Will occasionally be required to meet in other program facilities. Work schedule may be subject to change to meet the business needs of the mission. Exposure to infectious diseases, poor hygiene, drug usage, verbal and physical abuse and other emergency situations relative to the homeless population is normal. Jeans with no holes/fraying may only be worn on Fridays and only as long as a Star of Hope shirt (T-shirt, polo-style or sweatshirt) is worn.
Relations with Others: Constant face to face discussion with immediate peers, immediate manager and use of electronic mail. Occasional contact with managers in other departments, clients, volunteers, other agencies and donors. Occasional public speaking and written letters and memos. Constant telephone conversation.
Physical Requirements: Sedentary work with lifting up to 20 pounds. Occasional reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching lifting, handling, and driving. Constant use of fingers, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, color and close vision at 20 inches or less. Frequent use of distance vision of 20 feet or more, field of vision, depth perception and night vision.
Other: Able to support through word and action the Star of Hope Christ-centered Mission statement and the mission’s core values of integrity, excellence and commitment to life change.
