Educational Achievements (Diploma, bachelor’s degree, or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Proven experience in data management or related roles.
Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices.
Highly skilled in SQL (preferred).
Familiarity with building BI dashboards in tools like Power BI.
Familiarity with data quality assessment techniques and tools.
Understanding of regulatory requirements related to data security and privacy.
Proficiency in using metadata management tools.
Cloud computing experience, such as Azure, would be considered a strong asset.
Experience with ETL tools like Knime or Alteryx is considered an asset.
Excellent analytical skills with an eye for detail.
A curious individual.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently.
What you'll do
As a Data Steward within the Merchandising Business Support Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of our data assets. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and govern the FGL Merchandising owned data resources, ensuring compliance with data management policies and procedures. You will contribute to data sourcing, transformation and developing automated reporting, enabling data driven decisions across the organisation.
Data Governance: Develop and implement data governance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the effective management of data throughout its lifecycle. This includes defining data standards, data quality rules, and data classification guidelines.Data Quality Management: Monitor and assess the quality of data across various systems and databases. Identify and resolve data quality issues by collaborating with relevant stakeholders and implementing corrective actions. Implement data profiling techniques to identify patterns, anomalies, and inconsistencies.
Data Security: Revise and enforce data access controls, privacy measures, and data protection protocols, for domains within the scope of the department.
Metadata Management: Define and maintain metadata standards for various data elements, including data dictionaries, glossaries, and business glossaries. Establish processes for capturing, documenting, and organizing metadata to enhance data understanding and facilitate efficient data usage.
Master Data Management: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and governance of master data assets. Collaborate with key stakeholders to define master data requirements, ensure consistency across systems, and enable accurate reporting and analytics.
Data Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of data sources, structures, mappings, transformations, and business rules. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible to users within the organization.
Data Transformation: Design and develop end-to-end data analytics solutions. Query data from standard and curated tables using SQL, use ETL pipelines in Azure for transformation, and Power BI for dashboards and end user reporting.
Data Collaboration & Querying: Facilitate collaboration between different business units to promote cross-functional data sharing and integration. Identify opportunities for leveraging shared datasets to improve decision-making processes.
Training and Education: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions to increase awareness among employees about proper data handling practices, including data entry standards, quality control measures, and adherence to data governance policies.
