Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of related experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and business intelligence software
Highly self-motivated
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Strong organizational skills
Excellent inductive and deductive reasoning
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Experience working in higher education.
SQL skills and SQL Server experience.
Tableau Desktop and Server
Uses SQL Server, Tableau, Excel and other tools to produce routine reports and to perform quantitative or qualitative analysis to address business issues or questions.
Combines reports with other insights to deliver basic advisement.
Collect various data sets from our data warehouse via SQL or Tableau to complete various ranking survey submissions.
Utilizes basic datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that need to be communicated visually.
Assists in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data visualizations by validating against source data and business requirements.
Prepares raw data for non-complex visualizations and other reports by clearing, filtering, and transforming the data.
Designs basic and routine data visualizations that effectively communicate insights to various stakeholders.
Assists in ensuring that visualizations are appealing and easily understood. Assists in the development of interactive dashboards that allow users to explore data and gain insights.
Tests basic visualizations with users and stakeholders for usability and effectiveness and iterates based on feedback.
Assists in streamlining data preparation and improving dashboard effectiveness.
Prepares data from external sources to utilize in new or existing dashboards.
Documenting the design decisions, data sources, and methodologies used in creating visualizations.
Collaborates with stakeholders to understand objectives, KPIs, and to design routine reports and dashboards.
Provides basic training and tier I support to end-users on using data visualization tools and interpreting visualizations.
Stays proficient in the utilization of data visualization tools and with data visualization best practices.
May include but not limited to: Collaboration with other team members on special projects.
Assignment & participation in university committees.
Attend online training sessions. Complete self-paced online training materials.

Who we are
Academic and Business Performance Analytics (ABPA) collects and submits data to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), and many ranking surveys such as U.S. News, Kiplinger’s, Peterson’s, and Barron’s. ABPA also provides student, course and faculty data through various reports and online data dashboards for the university administration and other stakeholders .

The Data Visualization Analyst, under general direction, is responsible for creating basic and routine reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that provide business insight and aid business decision-making.

Salary: $73,383.00 - $80,721.00
