- Design and implement resilient database infrastructures with a focus on reliability and performance
- Optimize and troubleshoot SQL Server query plans to ensure maximum database efficiency
- Develop and enhance monitoring and self-healing capabilities for database systems
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they impact system reliability
- Create and test comprehensive disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
- Automate operational activities through monitoring tools and performance tuning
- Collaborate across teams to anticipate issues and identify opportunities during backlog refinements
- Balance remote and in-office work by coordinating hybrid schedules with your team
- Share knowledge and mentor team members on database reliability best practices
- Demonstrated experience with SQL Server administration and design, including performance tuning and high availability configurations
- Strong expertise in SQL Server query plan troubleshooting and optimization techniques
- Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for database environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues
- Knowledge of cloud database services, preferably in Microsoft Azure
- Experience with or interest in AI Ops methodologies for database management
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code using tools such as PowerShell, Puppet, Terraform, or RESTful APIs
- SQL Server and/or Microsoft Azure certifications
- Experience with or curiosity about database reliability engineering and chaos engineering principles
- Knowledge of German language
- Experience working in geographically dispersed teams across multiple time zones
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with database automation and orchestration tools

About the RoleAs a Database Reliability Engineer in our Database as a Service squad, you'll be at the forefront of developing self-healing platforms designed for cutting-edge performance and availability. You'll implement auto-scaling solutions that optimize cost efficiency while maintaining exceptional service levels. This role offers a healthy work-life balance with limited on-call rotations (once every two months) for high-priority incidents only, as we believe in automation to minimize operational overhead.
