- Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
- Develops and implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.
- Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
- Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.
- Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food.
- Provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.
- Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.
- Washes children’s hands and faces after morning play activities, before lunch, and again in late afternoon before parents pick up children.
- Monitors and ensures the personal hygiene of the children, including toilet assistance, diapering, etc.; adheres to sanitary procedures.
- Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.
- Maintains the classroom materials in an orderly fashion.
- Maintains accountability for any supplies necessary for classroom programs.
- Reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.)
- Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents; informs parents of children's progress and specific incidents.
- Follows guidelines provided on Standards of Performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Two years' experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school or,
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
