      Join our super volunteers!

We know just how much our wonderful volunteers can improve a patient's stay here at Addenbrooke's or the Rosie hospital.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have a caring attitude and a commitment to supporting the Trust's Values, Together - Safe, Kind, Excellent.

Being a volunteer has proved extremely rewarding for many here at CUH and provides great opportunities to learn new skills and experience in the healthcare setting, as you help to improve the care and experience of our patients, their families and support staff.

There are many different ways in which a volunteer can contribute. To find out more about these roles please visit the website link below. Here you will find in-depth information about the Volunteering community, and how they are valued and integral members of the patient care team here at CUH.

"I love volunteering at CUH because I keep learning so much, from the patients, from the staff and from being involved." Simon, CUH Volunteer

As per Home Office guidelines, please be aware that, unfortunately, the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular position.

Please note, this role is volunteering.

      Main duties of the job

All our volunteer roles help improve the experience of our patients and visitors and support staff. Whether as a guide helping a patient to get to their appointment; a Ward Volunteer brightening someone's day with a chat and a listening ear; or perhaps as a Radio Addenbrooke's Volunteer providing entertainment over the airways. All our volunteers make a real difference.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
