Job Description

- Administer, maintain, and support mission-critical DB2 LUW database environments
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations
- Assist the Application Team in the Application release cycle (AE Run and DMR rollout)
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization techniques using CheckMK and Logic Monitor
- Ensure the security of the database by implementing appropriate measures and monitoring access.
- Perform database tuning and optimization to ensure efficient performance.
- Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions.
- Conduct regular database audits and prepare reports on database performance and usage.
- Develop and implement database security policies, access controls, and auditing procedures
- Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolution
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient database schemas and queries
- Implement and maintain Non-Production database environments refresh and cloning using Production database
- Design, deploy, and manage DB2 databases in Microsoft Azure environments
- Utilize Azure services such as Azure VMs, Azure Storage, and Azure Monitor in conjunction with DB2
- Implement and manage Azure-based backup and recovery solutions for DB2 on Azure BLOBs
- Automate database tasks using scripting languages and Azure automation tools
- Participate in capacity planning and performance forecasting for database systems
- Document database configurations, procedures, regular database reports based on best practices
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical database issues and P1 incidents
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to DB2.
- Experience with handing DB2 related support cases with IBM Support
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform and its services
- Experience with RedHat Linux operating system
- Experience deploying and managing databases in Azure (e.g. on Azure VMs)
- Familiarity with Azure CLI, PowerShell, and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates
- Knowledge of Azure security best practices (Azure Firewall and Azure NSG)
- Experience with other database technologies (e.g. Azure SQL Database, Oracle and SQL Server)
- Relevant certifications (e.g. IBM Certified Database Administrator, Microsoft Azure certifications)
- Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g. Azure Monitor, DB2 Mon, IBM DB2 Management Console etc.)
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Solid experience with database backup and recovery methodologies
- Proficiency in SQL and database scripting languages using JDBC drives
- Minimum 4 years IT industry experience.
- Minimum 3+ years DB2 experience as a Database Administrator
- Minimum 2+ years experience as Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL or Oracle

We are seeking a skilled and experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team supporting New Zealand based clients.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical DB2 databases, ensuring their availability and consistent performance.
Whilst the role is primarily DB2 administration re technical requirements, the successful candidate will also be expected to perform similar functions on Microsoft SQL (On premise and PaaS) databases.
Successful candidates must show relevant hands on experience managing both DB2 and SQL databases. (Oracle DBA may be considered in place of SQL.)
