- Must possess a California driver’s license or the ability to obtain one by first day of employment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds a minimum of one time a day
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk up to five miles a day, and bend, stoop, and twist
- Distant visual acuity in each eye must be correctable to 20/30 in the better eye and 20/40 in the other eye with corrective lenses
- Ability to distinguish between the colors red, yellow, and green.
- Ability to work any and all shifts and holidays, including overtime, with little-to-no notice.
- Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment
- Previous military experience
- Previous firearms experience or training
- Demonstrated fitness capability or routines
- Reliable work history to include at least 1 year of continuous work history for an employer
- AA degree or higher
- 1 year of experience at Diablo Canyon Power Plant
- 1 year of experience as an armed security officer
- Demonstrated ability to meet attendance, conduct, performance expectations
- Ability to learn and reliably perform new tasks with minimal oversight
- Strong decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual/emergency circumstances
- Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports
- Must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures

Department Overview
Diablo Canyon Security Operations Department seeks to provide the finest level of security and protection for Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP). We are committed to making a positive difference by providing professional support to our customers.
Position Summary
SEIU-represented classification, temporary position (opportunity for permanent positions in the future).
PG&E is seeking highly motivated individuals in the field of nuclear security.
You must be able to qualify as an armed responder, using an NRC mandated contingency weapon to maintain employment and be subject to 3-year background checks in accordance with NRC standards and NRC mandated Behavior Observation Program. You must be able to achieve and maintain qualifications to perform security functions, as detailed in the Security Training and Qualification Program, per the Code of Federal Regulations 10CFR73.55, Appendix B, physical requirements. You must be able to do frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds; carry up to 35 pounds of equipment on person daily; and do additional lifting and/or moving ability as required.
You must also be able to work any and all shifts and holidays, including overtime, with little-to-no notice.
To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a background check in accordance with NRC standards with no criminal history that reflects “reliability or trustworthiness issues,” psychological screen, computer-based training, NRC physical examination, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening and passing future physical exams.
