      -Position Starts June 2025-


      The Dean of Online Students provides high quality, personalized, pastoral care to our online student body, both by meeting with students individually and fostering an environment that enriches the online student experience and provides touchpoints for the students to grow in their spiritual life. This role requires experience in pastoral ministry as well as initiative and creativity to care for students scattered around the world.

      Duties and responsibilities


      1. Pastoral Care of Students

      a. Proactively initiate ongoing conversation with each online student.

      • Systematically interact with the student body, maintaining a record of interactions/attempts
      • Follow up with students relating to previous conversations or known needs.

      b. Contact students who are flagged by faculty and/or staff as in need of pastoral contact.


      2. Student Engagement

      a. Design and employ creative avenues for student interactions that promote the spiritual good of the students

      • Monthly virtual coffee house: Set the topic and write a short devotional; Facilitate discussion via Zoom

      b. Oversee the Core Advisory Team (student volunteer group) in their peer-to-peer student ministry and student/alumni engagement efforts

      c. Collaborate with the Student Success team in retention efforts.


      3. Support Seminary mission through travel to conferences and other Seminary-sponsored gatherings.

      4. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
