      Anticipated Schedule: 4 days a week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Thursday (Hybrid)

      We are currently seeking a Decision Scientist to solve complex business challenges by leveraging a variety of quantitative methods to identify and solve problems. They will create and apply advanced analytical approaches to optimize processes, guide decision-making, and provide data-driven insights to shape business strategy and operations. This role is for someone who is excited about solving problems, thinks critically, adapts to challenges, and applies the best methods to deliver impactful solutions.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Solve exciting and complex business challenges, including station siting optimization, demand forecasting, fraud detection, maintenance prediction, resource allocation, and more.
      • Leverage large datasets, statistical techniques, and hypothesis testing to produce actionable recommendations.
      • Use quantitative analysis to understand key drivers of business performance, system dynamics, and long-term trends.
      • Develop and implement decision-making and predictive models, and advanced analytical techniques such as optimization, machine learning, and simulation.
      • Design and implement experiments to test hypotheses.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement, document, validate and monitor the impact of decisions
      • Work with business and product leaders to define key metrics and provide insights that support strategic goals. Mentor junior analysts on advanced methods, problem-solving approaches, and best practices in analytics.
      • Lead and manage small Data Team, including evaluating performance, providing regular feedback, holding regular one-on-one check-ins, and conducting performance reviews. Currently the Team has one Data Analyst.
      • Create reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses to support business decision-making.
      • Communicate findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, often through visual reporting tools
      • Partner with business analysts, field personnel, and cross-functional teams to identify challenges and develop data-driven solutions.
      • Collaborate with engineering team to manage data logistics – including data specifications, transfers, structures, and rules.
      • Take a proactive, independent role in project design, planning & execution.
      • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations in data science and analytics
      • Work closely with software engineers to guide the design and optimization of database structures and data pipelines, ensuring they meet analytical requirements and uphold data integrity

      Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

      • Education & Experience:
        1. Master’s, PhD, or equivalent experience in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
        2. 3+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, operations research, or a related quantitative role.
      • Technical Skills:
        1. Fluency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
        2. Fluency with programming languages such as R or Python for statistical analysis and modeling.
        3. Proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
        4. Expertise in advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling, machine learning, optimization, simulation, and statistical methods.
        5. Experience working with big data.
      • Business & Problem-Solving Skills:
        1. Ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for business product teams and executive leadership.
        2. Experience in decision science, system dynamics, or strategic modeling to inform business operations.
        3. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on structured analytical thinking and attention to detail.
        4. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and take ownership of analysis and recommendations.
      • Collaboration & Communication:
        1. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
        2. Ability to collaborate with engineering teams on data logistics, specifications, and infrastructure.
      • Experience working cross-functionally with business analysts, operations teams, and field personnel to address challenges and improve decision-making.

      • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with company and department policy.
      • Repetitive motion required of the wrists, hands, or fingers occasionally throughout the workday.
      • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone throughout the workday.
      • Any travel would be primarily local during the business day.
      • Work from home shifts require a reliable internet connection and an environment to take calls where quiet & customer privacy can be assured.
      • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
      • Must be able to lift up to 20lbs.
      • Riding a bikeshare bike, occasionally out on the field or in the warehouse.
      • This role requires the ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand, understand the speech of another person, see details of objects that are less than a few feet away, stand or sit for several hours straight at a time, and bend or stoop as necessary.
      • This is a full-time, hybrid position expected to work 32 hours per week (4 days per week, 8 hours per day). Some hours outside of this, including nights and weekends, may be required.
