      Do you want to help establish a business critical function in a fast growing AWS region? The newly established Decommissioning Technical team is responsible for liquidating legacy data center equipment in a safe and secure manner. This legacy equipment must be removed from our existing data centers so we can offer new technology to our customers. Team members will process large volumes of customer media ensuring that all customer data is sanitized and handled in a secure manner. We make our decisions by prioritizing Safety, Security, and Availability.

      This position requires candidates to be self-starting, high attention to detail, highly motivated, and collaborative individuals. Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
      · Communicate with local teams to ensure all proper decommissioning preparation work is completed on schedule.
      · Remove IT equipment from server racks in accordance with documented safety and security procedures.
      · Sanitize customer data and maintain secure custody of all equipment.
      · Conduct inventories of decommissioned equipment.
      · Participate in daily sync meetings.
      · Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in cramped and/or elevated locations.

      Amazon Data Centers protect customer data with utmost vigilance, and selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without fault. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) ensure our customer’s data is protected and properly handled. Decommissioning team members will support associates from other diverse teams and must be able to communicate effectively.

      25% travel within region may be required. The longest round trip travel route will be approximately 60 miles.

      This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance. Upon application you will be asked qualifying questions that will be used only in relation to the US Government Security Clearance required for this role.

      Key job responsibilities
      Make sure customer bearing data components are removed and sanitized from host/racks.

      Perform audits of failed parts.

      Perform cable decommissioning.

      Prepare e-waste shipments.
      • 1+ year of computer hardware experience
      • 1+ year of experience with technical troubleshooting
      • Current, Active US Government Security Clearance at or above the Top Secret level



      · Experience decommissioning and processing of legacy hardware out of the data center facilities
      · Unpacking/repacking fragile electronics.
      · Previous experience using pallet jack.
      · Experience tracking and accounting for a large amount of IT parts.
      · Familiarity with basic PC components/hardware.
      · Experience tracking work progress through a web based ticketing system.
      · Hard drive installation, removal, and destruction.
      · Networking removal/installation and clearing of configurations.
      · Linux CLI experience.
      · Inventory Management Experience
