      Job summary

      The post holder will be required to part time as a dental receptionist as part of our team in Bolton Leigh & Wigan. They will be responsible for reception duties associated with the Community Dental Service inclusive of any associated clerical and typing duties.

      The position is fundamental for the post at Bolton Lever Chambers / Leigh Health Centre / Pemberton Health Centre. However, we adopt a flexible working approach across the wider Dental Directorate footprint. Therefore, travel may on occasion be required in order to attend meetings, training or to cover colleagues at other premises.

      Main duties of the job

      They will be responsible for reception duties associated with the Community Dental Service inclusive of any associated clerical and typing duties

      To be responsible for the day to day running of the reception by

      Booking appointments

      Collecting patient information

      Recording exemption status

      Inputting data

      Taking payments for dental charges

      Dealing with patients on the telephone and face to face

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      We are a very friendly, experienced team working across 2 sites Bolton Lever Chambers / Leigh Health Centre / Pemberton Health Centre. We have Senior Dental Officers, Dental Officers, Hygiene/Therapists and Dental Nurses providing a range of services to patients on referral.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      First point of contact for patients who are attending dental appointments.

      To use in house IT systems.

      To operate the Dentally patient administration system for the Dental Service. This will include booking appointments, collecting patient registration details, exemption status documentation, inputting data onto the computer and eliciting simple symptom information.

      To carry out general clerical duties as requested by the team e.g. photocopying; filing, printing of documents.

      To facilitate the provision of dental appointments with other dental providers.

      To answer telephone enquiries and take messages as appropriate.

      To courtesy call patients on a daily basis to confirm appointments in order to maximise slot utilisation.

      To maintain high standards of communication skills and promote a positive image of our service.

      To provide information and answers queries relating to accessing NHS dental services.

      To maintain filing systems as appropriate.

      To be responsible for the collection of patient monies, daily float checks & till reading balances.

      Advise patients re accessing the out of hours Emergency Dental Service

      Ability to exhibit a calm and professional manner when dealing with difficult patients.

      Adhere to centre and trust policies and procedures including the confidentiality policy and the data protection act.

      Provide other such duties appropriate to the post, as shall be determined from time to time.

      To collect data as part of organized and approved audits e.g. patient satisfaction questionnaires.

      To be responsible for monitoring levels of department stock of stationery and ordering supplies when needed.
