Description:
The Dental Assistants will be part of clinic team. The clinic team consist of faculty patient care manager, dental student provider, treatment coordinator.
The Dental Assistant will work closely with the team to provide patient care in a timely and efficient manner.
The Dental Assistant performs chair side assisting of undergrad and graduate students assisting in delivery of patient care related to dental treatment procedures and recorded in the patient management system. Maintains clinic cleanliness, opens and locks up clinic, delivers and retrieves instruments to and from sterilization, and sets up operatories, patient scheduling and appointment confirmations, confirms lab cases are ready for delivery . Is kind and professional, cares about patients and customer experience and satisfaction is a must.
Must present as a professional.
• Facilitates the opening and closing of the clinic. Assists with daily operations including operating rooms and other areas throughout and outside the workstation.
• Opens, reopens, and prepares rooms for procedures to be performed. Supports the cleanup, break down, and room set-up process.
• Assists faculty, residents, and staff with clinical procedures to include areas throughout and outside the workstation.
• Prepares each operatory with adequate instrumentation and supplies to ensure efficiency for procedures.
• Maintains adequate supplies for room assignments. Maintains neat, clean, and stocked clinic operatories.
• Maintains complete inventory of all clinical supplies. Keeps hand-pieces, vacuum lines, traps, tray set-ups, counters, and automatic developers cleaned and properly sterilized
• Maintains and adheres to Infection Control Protocol, appropriate attire, and eye wear.
• Performs sterilization duties which include delivery and retrieval of instruments to and from sterilization and storing instruments appropriately upon return.
Dental Assistants will be working within the School of Dentistry and seeing a high number of patients each day in the clinic. Dental Assistants will be working chair-side with the dental students assisting them with patients.
Radiographs. Digital radiographs. Learn sterilization process. learn patient scheduling - may need to help schedule appointments. Helping to open and close the clinic. Preparing rooms. Assist in clean up, breakdown, and room set up with the clinical staff. Be familiar with material/supplies/ instruments to perform procedures. Help maintain inventory of supplies. Help with tray set ups.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum two years of dental assisting back office experience required
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Dental Assistant Certification preferred.
