POSITION SUMMARY:
A Dental Assistant assists the Dentists during procedures and treatment, providing direct patient care. Prepares the patient, sterilizes instrumentation, passes the instruments to the Dentists during procedures, holds suction device, exposes dental radiographs, takes impressions and fabricates of dental temporary crowns/bridges in a time efficient manner thus to reduce patient time in chair thus improving patient satisfaction and improving clinic schedules. Work with Dentists and Dental Practice Manager to build a productive schedule for self, Dentists and the Dental practice.
Job responsibilities include carrying out procedures and treatments requiring knowledge and technical abilities in accordance with Dental Practice Act and Florida Health Care Plans’ policies and procedures. Must demonstrate a professional and caring image at all times while maintaining patient confidentiality. Take active role in Dental Department, working with Dentists, Dental Practice Manager, and Dental team to improve productivity of the department and quality of care delivered. Work with FHCP and Dentists to improve patient satisfaction.QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Must be a graduate from a CODA-accredited dental assisting program (that included both radiography and expanded functions) OR be state-certified as a dental radiographer by the Florida Department of Health and must have successfully completed a Florida Board-approved expanded duties training program (or have completed a course or program administered by or developed as part of the regular curriculum at a dental, dental hygiene, or dental assisting educational program accredited by CODA that provided training in the expanded function).
• One year of dental office experience preferred.
• Professional Rescuer CPR certification (from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross) or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment required.
• Strong customer service skills required.
• Pleasant, friendly and approachable behavior required.
• Professional appearance with a neat and clean presentation required.
• Computer skills required, knowledge of Electronic Dental Record/Dentrix preferred.
• Strong telephone and oral communication skills required.
• Minimum typing speed of 20 wpm required.
• Be well versed and updated with CDT codes and Terminology to identify procedure code and capture as necessary.About the company
