Find out about our purpose, values and principles hereAs a member of the department of Dentistry, the responsibilities of the Preventative Dental Assistant include: preparation of work area for dentist and patient flow; ensuring room, equipment and supply cleanliness; under the orders, supervision and guidance of the supervising dentist, performing simple dental procedures within scope of practice; performing reception responsibilities and confirming patient booking information; monitoring in-room inventory for operatories; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested; working in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner. Qualifications:- At minimum, completion of a Dental Assistant Program or recognized equivalent
- Current and maintenance of certification/competency in dental assisting and preventative dental assisting
- Member of the Ontario Dental Nurses and Assistant Association (ODNA)
- Current registration in the province of Ontario
- CDA/PCA
- At minimum, 1 year practical and related experience
- Dental billing experience is preferred
- Previous related experience working in a hospital setting.
- Experience working with medically compromised patients
- Ability to anticipate the needs of the dentist, patient and other team members.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and maintain patient flow.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient care needs and accept direction from the supervising dentist on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to take constructive criticism in a mature manner and maintain professional demeanor.
