Job Description

- Verify patient health history, record blood pressure, complete periodontal charting, and document appropriately in the patient’s chart, abiding by state and federal laws.
- Thoroughly and efficiently perform dental hygiene procedures to help maintain the schedule and patient flow.
- Provide effective dental hygiene procedures and treatment, including dental prophylaxis, gross debridement, SCRP, sealants, Nitrous Oxide supervision.
- Render treatment to patients of different ages, and different medical conditions.
- Educate patients on their oral hygiene, procedures and services, and establish/communicate continued care.
- Present primary complaint to the doctor(s) and partner with them to co-assess the treatment the patient needs.
- Clean, sterilize and prepare the equipment and operatory, per the organizations procedures and guidelines, prior to a patient’s appointment.
- Create an environment of respect and compassion for patients and staff and support a friendly and positive work environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve work flow, work processes and patient care, and work cooperatively to implement these and other quality improvements.
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA and Infection control guidelines
- High School diploma/GED
- Completion of a dental hygiene program from an accredited school
- Two years’ experience as a dental hygienist preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse population
- Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Patient, flexible and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to problem solve and implement solutions for optimal clinic productivity
- Proficiency in MS word, excel and outlook.

Overview
The Dental Hygienist supports the mission of People’s Community Clinic by assuring that dental services are delivered in a manner consistent with PCC’s strong commitment to high quality care and strong patient satisfaction.
The starting salary range for this position is between $87,360 - $95,680 annually.
