- Familiarity with NHS dental services including of regulations, guidance, referral processes and local policy
- Be able to conduct the triage and assessment of patients referred to the MOS service for exodontia
- Recognised accreditation and currency in Minor Oral Surgery or equivalent experience
- Competent and confident in dealing with urgent and emergency dental care
- Experience in providing care within referral services
- Recognised accreditation and currency in conscious sedation modalities
- Ability to work flexibly meet the needs of the service and the population
- Well organised and able to work effectively, efficiently and safely under pressure

Were looking for a dedicated dentist with a special interest in minor oral surgery to join our team at Harleigh Road Dental Centre in Bodmin, Cornwall, working 2 days per week. Main duties of the job
What Youll Be Doing This is a hands-on clinical role in which youll take responsibility for delivering oral surgery services to referred patients in a welcoming, well-equipped primary care setting. Whether youre performing procedures, providing expert advice to colleagues, or helping to shape and improve our service offer, your clinical knowledge will be truly valued here. Youll be part of a passionate and supportive team, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement through peer reviews, audits, governance activities and mentoring. Youll help develop colleagues who are interested in oral surgery and contribute to building a strong learning environment across the organisation. Job responsibilities
Providing oral surgery, with or without the use of conscious sedation, for referred patients thought suitable to receive treatment in primary care
Providing oral surgery for patients referred by General Dental Practitioners from the locality served by the post-holder
Onward referral of appropriate patients to hospital services or to other providers of oral surgery
Providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues within Smile Together
Providing specific developmental support and feedback to dentists who have a desire to develop in Oral Surgery
Providing excellence of service including written clinical detail enabling colleagues to provide face-to-face treatment or other interventions at future appointments
Actively engaging with Smile Together teams and participating in peer review, clinical audit activities, planning and development sessions and in-house meetings etc.
Being responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis in sites of clinical activity, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and legislation, appropriate health, safety and security procedures within the work area, and reporting accidents, incidents and near misses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure
Undertaking other reasonable duties as requested by the Dental Director, Clinical Directors and Smile Together Management Team
Working with the Dental Director, Clinical Directors and other operational and clinical leads to ensure your experience and knowledge helps to drive service improvement
Treating target numbers of patients
Maintaining and developing your clinical competency and continuing professional/personal development according to agreed training needs via our Smile Together Training Academy, other external educational providers
Attending and actively contributing to Peer Review meetings
Developing a Personal Development Plan as described in the GDC Standards
Supporting colleagues in the delivery of urgent and emergency care services including temperature checks with co-workers in this clinical environment
Working alongside clinical and professional support colleagues in facilitating ongoing organisational change and development
On occasions you may be required to visit and work from other locations where you would need to integrate as part of the local team
Playing a valuable part in contributing to the success of our organisation
