      Overview:

      The Deputy CIO will assist the CIO in the creation and implementation of the IT Strategic plan, while providing leadership to all IT initiatives in support of the City’s objectives. They will oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT Department while also managing the department’s budget and strategic objectives.Ways to Contribute to our Team’s Success:
      • Monitor new technologies and evaluate their use in support of the City’s strategic and tactical goals
      • In partnership with the CIO, develop and maintain the IT Vision and Strategic plan for the organization
      • Build relationships with departmental leaders throughout the organization to understand their goals and how IT can support their strategic vision
      • Maintain knowledge of purchased services and stay abreast of new service options that create value and improve efficiencies of the organization
      • Support the CIO in preparing the annual IT budget, monitor expenses, and justify any variances from the approved budget
      Physical Requirements:
      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach
      • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
      • Light to moderate lifting is required
      Work Environment:
      • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
      • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period


      • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
      • 5 years’ experience managing server and networking infrastructure
      • Experience managing operational and capital budgets
      • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership in a complex information technology organization
      • Exceptional analytic, interpersonal and communication skills
      • Strong service ethic
      • Ability to educate and influence decision makers and stakeholders
      • Significant understanding of IT processes such as service management, change management, and business analysis
      • Professional certifications such as ITIL, CISSP, and PMP preferred
