- Develop and implement strategies to improve community health outcomes based on data-driven decisions
- Ensure all programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and guidance
- Supervise the public health leadership team, fostering collaboration and performance excellence
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health, Environmental Health, Public Administration or a related field
- Seven years of experience working in public health programs including at least three years of supervisory experience

- Proven experience in devising and implementing strategies that align with departmental goals and improve community health outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex challenges in resource management, policy changes, and public communications
- Strong track record of ensuring public health programs comply with relevant laws, regulations, and county policies
- Strong leadership skills, with experience supervising and managing public health teams
- Expertise in developing and overseeing a range of public health programs, with a focus on community health
- Ability to devise and implement strategies to improve county-wide health outcomes
- Skilled in data-based decision-making and utilizing data to assess needs, measure success, and drive improvements
- Proven ability to navigate complex challenges, balancing resources, personnel, and competing priorities
- In-depth knowledge of public health regulations, laws, and best practices, with a focus on compliance
- Excellent communication skills, both for internal collaboration and public-facing initiatives
What You'll Be Doing
Anticipated Start Date: This position is part of the newly established Public Health Department, effective July 1st . We are proceeding with recruitment efforts so that the selected candidate may begin on or shortly after July 1st.
In this newly established role as the Deputy Director of Public Health - Community Health, you will oversee and manage a variety of public health programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of Wake County residents. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to implement effective public health strategies and ensure compliance with all regulations. Your leadership will drive key community health initiatives and help address the needs of the population.

Emergency Service Worker Statement
