      This is a fantastic opportunity to join Anglian Water in a newly created role to ensure th e ownership of all Anglian Water’s significant operational events within our area, ensuring the provision of the 24/7 Controlling mind function for the operational business.

      The Deputy Head of Tactical Operations is a critical role at the center of our business and has a key influence in delivering against critical business and ODI targets. To put it simply, our Tac Ops function helps our business sleep soundly at night.

      Supporting the Head of Tactical Operations, y ou will develop and enhance the capability to predict, identify and manage our operational events as well as enhance decision-making capability based on process optimisation and predictive analysis, rather than asset failure. You will innovate and embrace new digital and data capabilities to ensure success.

      You will lead, manage, and develop an industry-leading Tactical Operations 24-hour/7-day shift system, ensuring seamless coordination and leadership across operational activities. Your responsibilities will include operational risk avoidance and mitigation, as well as driving the team towards proactive intervention and preparedness through thorough event analysis. You will establish a strong engagement and performance culture, emphasizing continuous improvement and supported by robust performance and management information frameworks. Additionally, you will focus on developing decision-making capabilities to optimize processes for enhanced efficiency.

      The successful candidate will deputise for the Head of Tactical Operations where needed and support the business as required 24/7.

      What does it take to be a Deputy Head of Tactical Operations?

      • Demonstrable experience of knowledge and communication of business goals and priorities

      • Extensive experience in an operational management role at senior level

      • Strong proven leadership skills with evidence of mentoring, performance management and coaching and an ability to motivate others

      • Be able to demonstrate extensive specialist, operational water industry knowledge and skills

      • Proven decision-making skills in operational incident and/or operational environment

      • High degree of flexibility to cover operational events

      • Strong communicator with all levels, including the ability to negotiate with senior managers and the ability to project technical information using simple language

      • Strong organisational, time management, prioritisation and decision making skills
